Tasting - Cortenova Pinot Grigio

Name: Cortenova Pinot Grigio
Varietal: 100% Pinot Grigio
Region: Veneto
Country: Italy
Year: 2012
Price: $7.95

Shop Review: Brilliant straw color with emerald reflections. Fresh and floral bouquet with a hint of pears, apricots and bananas. Fresh and inviting with bright fruit and an easy drinking style with a pleasing hint of almonds in the aftertaste. Pairs well with seafood dishes, risottos with scampi, spaghetti with clams, sole in white wine Perfect also as an aperitif.

My Review: With 12% alcohol this wine was very light, crisp, clean and refreshing. It had a strong pear and banana scent on the nose and I feel that it also had a strong tannin smell. Although I could smell the tannins I could not taste them. This wine was low in tannins, and did not have a strong, dedescriptive taste. I enjoyed the wine but I could not say that it tasted like a certain fruit. It did however have a long finish and I could definitely see myself enjoying this wine on a hot summer day.
